Great game with hours of cryptic puzzles

Love this game! Makes me feel very satisfied when I solve one of the puzzles by cracking the code. Very well done. Each level is seamlessly integrated and serves as a stepping stone to the next. Very entertaining! Only complaint is some of the words are very small and difficult to read sometimes.

A stand out title.

Free your mind.

Curiously addictive.

Usually I am bored by puzzle games, but this has all the right elements to keep me engaged. The cryptic story elements, atmospheric elements, the color tones, the interface, the lack of instructions. At times I feel like I am staring at the monolith from 2001 Space Odyssey, and thats a good thing. I want more.

Fun and interesting

Starting off simple, it features many different kinds of codes. Some simple, some tricky. A was stumped a few times, mainly due to overthinking the problems. A few tips, take notes and keep your sound on.

Could be better

Interesting codes, but the decoded messages dont seem to have any relevance. It would be cool if the messages seemed to advance a story.

Challenging and rewarding

These games are a challenge to complete and the deeper you go the closer you must remember where youve been. Puzzle after puzzle we keep you thinking and your mind searching for answers. I highly recommend keeping notes!

Keep it coming!

This is a great puzzle game for those who like deciphering codes. Many other games have left me disappointed with the level of challenge or lack of content in *seemingly* hidden clues. Often Im left wishing there was more to figure out. Well if you are like me, this game is def for you.

Must Buy!

With a chilling atmosphere, compelling puzzles, cryptic bread crumbs, and a healthy dose of paranoia, The Guides is unique in presentation but, like every great mystery, manages to draw the sleuth ever forward. Hours of delightful frustration await.

Logic, Abstraction, Translation, Oh My!

Definitely a unique puzzle game. The experience is one of initial confusion, leading to satisfaction accompanying each moment of investigating/discovering a logic that previously evaded attention. If you think youre the kind of person who would enjoy this game, theres a good chance youre the kind of person who would enjoy this game. Cons: the same mechanisms that make the game enjoyable can also lead to frustration, confusion, or frustrated confusion (i.e. getting stuck for too long, semantically non-obvious visual hints, etc.)

I feel like a kid again

If you believe that surprises and thrills are a thing of the past because everyones personal lives are on your lap while you peek through their living room windows on Facebook, this game will restore your sense of wonder and awe. With each level you get younger, peeling off layers of cynicism and rediscovering what its like to play. Its like ripping open wrapping paper to find a Millennium Falcon, or peeling back silly putty to reveal a copy of Garfields face, or inviting the new girl into the neighborhood club because she passed the invitation test by chewing the same piece of Fruit Stripes gum all day. This is just pure simple fun.

im in love

havent played a game this good in a long time

Mysterious fun

I love the minimalistic approach to this and how we are just thrown into solving things with no direction. Keep em coming!

WOW

This game is

Not feeling it

Im not sure what all of the other positive reviewers were so happy with. I worked through the first ten or so puzzles in part one and found them tedious and dull. For example, one diagram showed a bunch of points in a constellation with various points labeled with things like "G=20". One point had the letter missing and the only letter missing in the entire sequence of A through G was the letter C (which was inevitably the answer to the puzzle). Most of the puzzles had a text input box for the solution and were only vaguely related to the prior puzzle. I was really expecting something more along the lines of a typical manipulatable puzzle encountered in an adventure game, not a low level IQ test. This was a waste of money and I am deleting it off my phone.

Interesting game

I have an iPhone 6 so a good size phone and great resolution... The fonts are illegible and tiiiiiiny. The clues are poor and vague, you will need a guide for this game... Those two things provide reason as to my 4 star review.

Eulooldqwob dpdclqj! ...

This game is one of the best things Ive played in my entire life. The compendium app that provides a story is well worth the 99ยข. Ive always liked riddles, puzzles and ciphers. This game throws you right in without instruction. Just like the boy in the story, you figure out what to do as you go. Id recommend reading the story first because it helps you understand the idea behind the game. I love the hidden clues and realizing that some answers are incredibly simple and some are extremely detailed.

Pure Joy

This game/story/mystery, whatever you want to call it, is an immensely satisfying experience worth much more than what is being charged. Give it a try and dont look up any of the solutions. Much more satisfying when each puzzle clicks.

Keep a notebook

There are a lot of back-references in later levels, which are tedious if you havent kept thorough notes. Most of the puzzles are fun, but some are not that logical. The sound-based puzzles use extremely high pitched sounds which are very hard to hear. If you have any hearing loss, you wont be able to get those clues. Also those are annoying to listen to, like a cricket. Section 1 was fun, 2 was a mix, and 3 was frustrating. Like I said, keep notes.

Wooooooooowwwww!!!!

This game has been yet one of the greatest buys Ive made on an apple device, I think this game is probably more intelligent than the tech in the phone hahaha! 100% awesomeness

Super fun!
